About Karel:
Karel van der Weide (1973) is a retired Chess Grandmaster. For ten years he was among the top professional players in The Netherlands, won big international tournaments (Prague, Sevilla, Bad Wiessee) and defended Dutch pride succesfully at European Championships (runner-up 2006, Liverpool). For years he has offered his services to the Dutch Chess Federation as a youth trainer and even coach of the Dutch ladies team.
