During the first round of the Aerosvit Tournament in Foros, by the Ukrainian Black Sea coast, Magnus Carlsen played a very mature game against Vassily Ivanchuk. It was a King’s Indian game where Ivanchuk sacrificed the exchange and reached a more or less balanced position. However at a certain point Carlsen avoided a repetition of moves and played for the win. Ivanchuk apparently felt obliged to go along and steered for complications also. In the end he pressed too hard and ended up in a losing endgame. Enjoy the video!
